asus board and SATA
just stuck another 160gb sata drive in my case. i already have one. do sata drives need to be configured like ide drives i.e master and slave or are they just plug and play. i can't get xp pro to recognise the other sata drive to format. anyone any ideas.

which motherboard ... and does it support raid ?

If BIOS is seeing the disk start XP right click on My Computer icon and from drop down list click Manage, then from list on left click Disk Management, then you should see new disk in bottom right hand window use right click to activate and again to size partition and format

If it's the SiS controller, I think it may need to be added in the setup, there's a screen prompt to enter just after the POST.
On the other hand, I may be talking bollox, it's a while since I did mine...

Hi Everybody!
Slight highjacking of thread sorry but since we have folks here who have actually got or seen these drives......
As well as the SATA connector/cable can you still use the older ribbon cable to connect it.
I know this is pointless but I was thinking of buying a SATA drive but only upgrading to a SATA enabled mobo later.
