mmmmmmm... the RS board doesn't work, so you use the Subaru one....

Does the same apply with your cars i.e. when they blow up / break down you'll go out and buy an Impreza instead??

hi rhys,

just spent a mental day at brunters with a bunch of rs or rs powered motors doing 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile and top speed. I got 5.7sec, 13,5 sec, 14.2secs ( ) and 156mph (just 1 run, reckon i could have got 158-160+ with a couple more runs). Saw 1 rwd sapp hit 169.7mph, a sierra 178mph and a capri do 0-60 in 4secs flat !!!

twas a TOP day and i enjoyed it IMMENSELY

Scooby owners. U dont mind us rs enthusiasts using one thread on your board do you? We all love cars and speed you know and most rs owners admire scoobies for their amazing out of the box performance. cheers lads,

I thought there would be more RS owners on here though?

Quite a few of RS peeps lurk in the shadows (at least we will have something in common with MY2001 owners then )So as long as we dont ask the same question over and over again.Say our cars handle better if fitted with a koni suspension kit than a scoob. Can we come and play then please.

rhys,

it was m8! check out an upcoming issue of performance ford for the 14 (!!!) page report. there might be some pics of me at play in the interim caused by a bit of rain

the capri had sapp inner wings and rear subframe allowing it to run a cossy engine and 4wd. it was running greys and nitrous and really was awesome!!

id also have thought theyd have been a few more rs bods here considering the rs board is down (again!! )

simon,

cheers, id also buy a scoob as my next car if the cossy focus hadnt been announced.

paul,

thanks to u too. i sometimes get the feeling that people get into a "clan" mentality and that all this "my cars better..." can go too far. Me, i love ALL fast motors from scoobs to cossys to supras. I wish my cossy would handle better but i cant afford a P1 or Evo6 and even if my old sierra doesnt handle too well it doesnt half go and it never, ever fails to put a grin on my face. Thats what its all about, the badge dont matter!!

hiya les

The wee stage 1 didnt get to where it is supposed to - was meant to be 162 at the limiter. Will be checking figures on the rollers today to see how accurate the datron stuff is, or if my limiter is guff.
Dingy - you should have seen the rest of the return trip - the flyby competition lasted over an hour! Yip - wrong turn at the roundabout but got back on track soon after - not like we could b bothered with maps.
Bren - glad to see your happy with the car, goes really well if a little out of control.
Do I not win something for making the journo run when I can round the corner to do my topspeed run?
Cheers

dumped,

u got home ok then? well actually it has developed a new vibration that wasnt there on the way down. i dont know, u pamper your car and all it does is let u down!!!

we nearly didnt get home cause as we were cruising at 90 i smelt a bad smell, a burning something, and noticed that the temp gauge was giher than it should be. i pulled straight onto the hard shoulder and popped the bonnet. couldnt see anything other than a glowing turbo so checked the water (ok) and all the hoses (all hot so ok) and got back in the car. Just about to set off when i noticed that the fans in the car were blowing cold like there was no water in the system. Just left it for 10mins and it was ok again, knackered thermostat i think. ill sort it today.

Ok Ok you RS chaps, you might as well make yourselves useful while you here

I need to know the last year that the 4WD Sapph was produced. I think it might be a 'K' plate but I'm not sure.

Cheers

ive never heard of or seen an L reg 4x4 sapp so think that they did stop on a K, although ive never seen a K reg escort cossy so ford may have released a few L reg sapps to cover the gap (?)

Blubs,
We might smell, but you're fat

The last year of manufacture for a Sapphire 4x4 is 1993. However, I have seen some registered as late as 1994 ("M").

At least we can use a deoderant - you would have to go on a diet

Mike,

I smell coz I'm calorifically challenged, (it's the correct term you know), rather than stinking due to lack of contact with soap and water

I like to think that my fantastic ability in bed overides my wanton hideousness.

Thanks for the info BTW. The reason I ask is that there is a old geezer, (a coffin dodger like you Mike), who visits a neighbour of mine. He's got a 'K' plate 4x4 Sapphire which looks like a very dark gunmetal colour (almost black). It's really mint and I'm reliably informed it's owned from new and has less than 25,000 genuine miles on it.
It also may be coming up for sale. It'll probably be a join the queue job though!!

Blubs,
Sounds like the colour "Smokestone Blue". If you get up close to it and "move" around the car, you should see the pearl flip change colours (green, purple, blue etc).

It will be especially valuable if it has leather AND aircon, as each was a £1k extra (which is why they usually have one or the other...). Would expect to have to pay anything from £10k to 13k (depending on how clued up the owner is as to its value).

Richard,
You may be drunk, but at your age it will take you all week to recover. Remember, I may be ugly, but I have yoof on my side...
LOL
Mike R
PS. Have you seen how desperately hard your "mates" are trying to trash your car... I think it should be taken away from them and lent to someone who would look after it properly. Coincidentally, I know someone who would do that for you...
