Default Wireless 802.11b and g

Morning all,

Is their any point upgrading my wireless setup from b to g. The wireless is only used for broadband and wireless x-box gaming. I assume my current 22mps is more than ample for my needs.

Cheers

David

Scooby-Doo,

Unless your transfering a lot of files over the network, you won't see any improvement. Your broadband rate (about 60kbs for 512k connection) will be much lower than your current (22mps) wireless rate.

I've got some d-link wireless stuff and the drivers supplied on CD were crap - BSOD inducingly crap!

The latest ones seem to be working now though. For me it was necessary to turn off the automatic wireless service included in Windows XP and to let the app from d-link handle the connection.

I use a belkin 802.11g PCMCIA card in my laptop (Part # F5D7010uk), and my desktop is hard wired into a belkin 802.11g access point, via a router. I've had no problems with this set up, and I can get connectivity all round my house and in the garden. I used a belkin desktop card (Part # F5D7000uk) for a bit as well, and that worked just fine too.
