A data miner is someone that knows how to get the most information out of a database, like a CRM database for example, and has much experience doing so.

Hello

Companies record lots of information regarding their products / interactions with customers. One of the definitions of data mining is to find relationships between seemingly random sets of data.

For example if you are Ford, you will have lots of data and who buys cars, what cars are bought and the accessories that are bought with each car. Using a data mining tool (or a person I guess, but it's normally a tool) you may find that 18-25 year olds buy black fiestas with red carpet mats.

This data can then be used by the company to better understand their customers and perhaps offer special sales.

Yes, but you need highly skilled people to do it since there's no RFC for companies to follow when it comes to managing their data

Weapon69:

Ah. Okay. All that means is a program (or cookie) that is used to track some of the things you do on the internet.

I thought that B2Z had finally make you get a proper job and you were looking at being a data miner or using a tool within a company!

Hah, typical! I hate it when terms for one thing are used for another. Like "URL forwarding" which is HTML frames, or, at best, proxying

Yep - go Mozilla Firefox and instantly relieve yourself of an awful lot of headaches

Incidently, good as Adaware and Spybot are (I use them both) - they are not totally accurate. The best I've seen is Webroot Spy Sweeper - you'll be amazed at what that finds even after running Spybot and Adaware.
