Default Why? Why? Why?

Why does my PC just randomly shut down??

Used to do it daily, since a crash last month its doing it about once a week now! - still a pain in the butt!!

A common theme seems to be when I am in and using my hotmail account? Co-incidence?

No virus, spybot is clear - ???????

Is in just XP? Is it just my PC? Is it me??

Sounds like a worm virus, but I'm no expert.

I'd be inclined to look for some different free anti-virus stuff and download and run that.

try trend.com - look under products for their "housecall" - it will scan your PC for you

I had this with mine, turns out it wasn't a virus, but that Windows updates had been installed with the Antivirus Software running. Result was corrupted updates crashing the PC for me.

This may not be the cause, but worth investigating.

Are you talking a controlled shutdown, where Windows says it is going to shut down, then does; or are you talking a sudden crash and reboot? Because they have different causes.
