I think they may have missed the boat, Polophony Digital that is, I cant be arsed anymore, its had so much hype and missed dates I am just not bothered, I am sure as hell not going to buy a small piece of the game for 17.99, I bet GTA San ANdreas comes out well before GT4. Also I dont think it can live up to the hype considering what an old machine the PS2 is becoming.

The prologue version has 5 tracks and 52 cars so a bit more than a demo game, it is as big as some "full price" games in reality.
I will probably wait now tbh unless I see it for £15 anywhere.

If you like driving games and your PS2 is equipped for it there are quite a few import racing games available.
Been playing Initial D (Manga Drifting cartoon/racing) for a while now. Its not great graphics wise compared to others but its very playable and good for blasting round listening to Jap Euro-pop.

definitely worth getting prologue - its excellent in its own right and will give you a good week's worth of play. Lots of cars to unlock. Better engine sounds, better graphics, better handling, and better ai opponents.
Still no crash damage - hopefully it'll be in the PS3 version they're working on now.

Yeah, I got a "ahem" back up of the PAL version last week and have played it a bit since. I have done all the license type tests, there are 41 in all and you win the car you use for the test after each one.
The tests are a bit different than in previous gt's and are mainly easy with a couple of tricky ones thrown in (and a pants fuel economy test in a prius) but you do win some nice cars, Mclaren F1 gtr race car, gt40, spoon race s2000, WRC impreza etc. Good video after completing the first set of tests also.
I don't think too much of the 5 tracks you get to race on. The rally stage and New York street circuit are about the best, the other 3 are fuji raceway and another jap circuit and a nice looking but narrow street course in Italy/sicily.
All in all, a nice introduction to what gt4 will be like, with a glimpse of some of the forthcoming cars shown in the video, things are looking good.

It's a more polished version so looks better - I cant see the dynamics are any different eventhough the graphics most definitely are. But then I am not sure what I was expecting.
I have almost finsihed the tests which are a bit easy overall with just the odd tricky one - although most of mine are silver not gold - so maybe I should have tried a bit harder.
I would say it is a worthwhile teaser until the real thing arrives, but only if you a GT fan.

So what do you think Steve ? I have finished the tests - nothing too tricky - hardest to pass I found was the New York overtaking test but it was easy after a bit of practice. The economy test was a pain in the **** - got a silver first try and havent managed to even repeat that let alone a gold ! Got Silver finally in the last test in Italy in the Integrale, but gold is absolutely impossible...for me anyway.

I am on the final stages (purple I think) of the tests. Once completed do you unlock anything or is that it, all you can do then is try the various cars on the 5 circuits?

NeilW - I take you know you unlock a car when you get all golds in a colour section - Escudo and M5 in the first 2 sections.
I like prologue - although my thumbs are hurting a bit!
got over 4000 points on the licenses - got 26 golds so far only 4 more bronze's to get rid of. I can't find anything to confirm that the save game will get you licenses for full GT4, but everyone I've spoken to seems to think so.
I like the sega rally style grand canyon track with people in the road, not quite got to grips with the new york circuit yet - the new physics engine makes braking points vastly different.
Italian street circuit is fantastic - glad the game has more variety in its tracks.
Some of the car models got do with inprovement though - the lotus elise seems a bit square edged and the lancia integrale seems like it's been taken from the old playstation... STI8 looks well though.
One thing I noticed during the "making of" documentary - a load of ferrari's lined up...
Oh - and shall we start up a points leader board? I'm on 4051 BTW...
