ADVICE:

Tyre Warming:
---------------------
Please note that the tyres can take ONE-TWO FULL LAPs to get up to
operating temperature. The car will have much less grip until the tyres are
warmed up and much less braking power until the brakes are warmed up.
Live temperatures are provided for tyres and brakes in the Cockpit Motec
display - press LCD Mode key to cycle through these.
Don't judge any setup changes until you've done 4 or 5 laps.

If you have problems controlling the car or are not using a steering wheel,
use keys F1 - F4 to turn on aids. These are displayed by a red light in the
Arcade Motec display - Key Number '2'.

Pretty darn good - understatement of the year

So far, the physics, absolutely amazing, especially the Morgan, the way it bobs up and down under braking and when the cockpit zooms towards you. The way you can just feel when the back end is going to let go, the way it loosens up when the tyres get fully warm. The force feedback effects are also the best Ive ever experienced. Im using a Momo Force, the red one.

The sounds, what can I say, these are some of the most realistics sounds Ive ever heard in any driving sim. The whine of the gears, how they change pitch to a scream when going for it, the banging when you muck up a downshift, the rumble from the engine at low revs as you first pull out, the very realistic rumble strip effects for both sounds and force feed back. The Morgan sounds teriffic as does the Lister but I think the Morgans rumble has the edge

Also really like that while in cockpit view, pressing the LMB and moving the mouse forward/back adjusts the seat forward/back. Its amazing this has never been fully utilised in a driving game and lets you get that just perfect driving view.

Love watching the tyre temps change depending on cornering and braking

The visuals are also spot on, Ive everything maxed and no slow down, both the track, background and cars rival anything else out there, replays are better than GT3, my main gfx benchmark to date, imo.

In fact just too many things to rave about in this game.

For all those who play the likes of Toca2/LFS, dl this demo, its only 147 meg, and let me know what you think.

blimey, that lister is foookin lethal!!!! esp in autobox mode, when you hoon outta corners at 7000rpm!!!!

the batteries packing up in my keyboard didn't help the general aesthetics of the car either, on the hairpin!!!!!!!

carnage....

cant wait to get beaten by everyone online (story of my life)

got a microsoft sidewinder game pad and its all fine apart from the fooken steering

was the same with LFS as well

I can't get the pit limiter to turn off, Spa at 48mph isn't very testing
pressed all the keys with no result, any ideas ?

tis L by default, look in the setup screen under accessories, you can scroll it down and change it to anything you want btw

had a quick blast tonite - stock setup ain't bad, managed a 2.24 within 4 laps in the Lister (should be aiming for the 2.18s) all in all very impressed, runs extremely well on maxed out settings

jye, i went out today and bought a MOMO, blimey, you have to wrestle with the thing!!!

it also spot on for live for speed.

good choice!!!

this is my problem

every thing is fine, except when i use the pad to turn the car it doesnt gradualy increase the turning. it just whacks it at 100% left or right

now if i select say the pad to turn left and the keyboard to turn right, when i use the pad it gradualy turns it correctly, but when its set to turn both left and right its no good, exactly the same with LFS as well

recalibrated the pad and it made no diffrence
keyboard worls fine, why doesnt the left and fooken right
useing the pad for throttle and brake gives smooth inputs as well

Bravo, the wheel was £79 ish - i bought some other stuff too.

it is well worth twice that money in online pleasure in live for speed!!!

had a big online dustup with some czec to55er who just smashed into everyone.
plus the analogue throttle etc mean you are not on and off the gas.brake, but can apply varying pressure.

its a MUST have!!

Micky, u need a pad that does both analogue and digital. One that is digital only will cause those problems youre having, because the signal is either ON or OFF. Thats y when u steer u get 100% input or nothing. Or in the game options u have the steering set to digital when it sbe analogue.

Currys, Dixons etc are selling the Thrustmaster Enzo Wheel for 59.95 at the moment. The wheels build quality is brilliant and the difference it makes to driving games is huge. I can now play F1C and Toca Driver 2 and manage to do half decent laps. I'll give it a go on GTR tonight...

Default GTR Momo wheel settings

beemerboy, try these settings with your Momo for the GTR demo, the standard FFB settings are OK if a bit 'violent', heh

I've tried these settings out and they work really well, you should get more of a feel for any slight understeer and you shouldnt have to hold the wheel as tightly to counter the wheel oscillations

Make sure you keep a backup copy of your current GTR .PLR file, then cut and paste the following text into the original (make sure to delete these lines first).

Set the steering axis sensitivity at 35% (set in the controller settings menu in game) and speed sensitive steering @ 0%. Also try the follwing windows control panel settings for the wheel:

overall = 97%
spring effects= 97%
damping = 0%

center spring unchecked and 0%

Flat4, same sort of times I'm getting, best is 2.21 with no OTT track cuts (at least two wheels over the white lines) and a 2.18 with a bit of artistic licence at the bus stop

Neanderthal, I'd say yes but then I do own one

According to every review I've read though the Logitech Momo's are considered one of the best FFB wheels available atm. They aint the best wheels about but then you probably dont want to spend over £500 on something like a non FFB BDR (Ball Racing Developments) wheel and pedals

The pedals do look nifty though, would be nice to have a clutch, /me counts his pennies

I've got a logitech formula from years ago which still works fine. I think sometimes I am missing out by not having force feedback though, but then the only force feedback one I have used was on the PS2/GT3.

you really want FFB to get the most from the game, you'll get no feedback to what the tyres are doing without FFB

Had a quick whiz on the work pc at lunchtime, seems good although it did look like the Morgan was bouncing around like it had square wheels?
