iPAQ help - can't get keyboard or character recognizer!
Anyone any pointers as to what's causing my iPAQ to play up all of a sudden?
It's a 3630 - older model, but never gone wrong before!
Turned it on yesterday to put in a new contact, but as soon as you select either the Keyboard or Character Recognizer, they pop up and then immediately close again!
Obviously, this means I now have no way of entering new info, or editing anything that's already there.
Anyone got any ideas how to fix it?
Cheers,
Steve

It sounds as if the relevant dll has gone AWOL or got corrupted. I assume you've tried a soft-reset ? Failing that, a hard-reset may be required followed by a restore from backup. You do have a backup I hope ? You could try entering the new contact on your desktop PC and see if ActiveSync copies it across ?

Thanks Tony,
Tried a soft reset to no avail.
Sod's law means that although I have a backup, it's on the PC at work - as is the docking cradle etc.!
Will be a week before I'm back in the office, so I'll shout again if the hard reset doesn't fix it.

Steve

No probs mate.
I have a 5550 now after upgrading from a 3630, but I still have the older device. If anyone could identify the relevant dll, I wonder if I could make a copy of it, mail it to you and you could put it on yours via ActiveSync ? Don't know if there are any technical limitations to doing this - in theory it should work.
