Outlook Contacts Sync (with Sony 610)?
Couple of questions regarding synchronising Outlook contacts with a mobile phone....
1. Does anyone know if it's possible to turn off the "A program is trying to access Outlook. Allow access for x minutes?" warning in Outlook 11? It's a PITA, and means that I'll never be able to seamlessly have my Bluetooth phone sync contacts without me having to dismiss dialogues, etc.
2. I've got the XTConnect app that comes with the Sony 610. It's okay, but doesn't really work that well. In particular, it seems to be singularly unable to work out when to merge contacts instead of duplicating them (for example, when I have a contact on my phone with a phone number, and in Outlook with just an email address, surely it should match the names and create a single combined contact on both sides...?). Anyway, are there any better alternatives which work via Bluetooth and will be a bit more clever?

Doesn't seem to work with my DLink Bluetooth adapter. I guess it must be designed specifically for the MA700 from that company.
Any other suggestions?

Mark,

Marko,
Ok the first issue is to do with outlook security, most programs that access it externally use simple MAPI and outlook (2000 onwards) will block this. You have two options; 1) there is something called outlook redemption which is a dll that you can use to circumvent this problem or 2) Access outlook messagestores using Extended MAPI, not for the faint hearted but using this method will not show the security message. I am doing this very thing now so could whip over a simple app which extracts contact details into a DB like access.
O and ive heard of the clickyes little app and Ive heard of some shonky little work arounds but that takes the biscuit!
cheers

Gary, thanks for that, but TBH I'm not really interested in developing an application to do this (I don't have time right now). I'm looking for an app which already exists that I can just install.
Any other suggestions?

Have you tried floAt's Mobile Agent? I think the 0.1.1 Beta version has Outlook sync support - it's not perfect yet but it should be sorted soon.

Thanks Mark. Looks good, but unfortunately is hardly seamless - you have to sync the app with Outlook, then sync the phone with the app. It's also one of the slowest-loading bits of software I've seen in a long time!
Still looking for a really smooth and automated seamless solution to this....
