Wireless Security / VPN Connections
I have currently made the switch to wireless (after much frustration!) in our house. Now that all works very well and i have been taking advantage of some of the new public wireless access points which are springing up everywhere (ok some arent so intentionally public ) around the country.
Now i run my own mail server at home and im not too sure about logging into that via outlook using a wireless connection through a public access point. Im not super clued up on this kinda thing but would a vpn connection to the server help the security of this setup... or am i talking poo?
Cheers
David

Essentially correct
if...
Mail Server = Exchange Server on a NT/W2k box
Install RAS, allow user, sort out firewall and you can then VPN into the RAS server from your lappy and connect to the exchange server as if at home + use other bits n pieces on the network.
Or
Install OWA & connect to your mail through a web browser - which is what I've just set up at home, prior to doing the RAS.
