Missing 'D' drive
I have my hard-drive partitioned into C and D - went to look at something on D drive this morning and there's nothing there....... totally wiped clean - I haven't done anything that would have done this....... anybody any ideas why this has mysteriously happened? Can I find out where all the stuff has gone and recover it?

Have you had a look in disk management. This should give you some idea. Normally only way to make it disappear is to delete partition.

Depends what operating system you use.
Windows XP / 2000 -> right-click "My Computer" and choose manage.... or find it in the administrator tools bit in the start menu.

If you are using windows XP - try this.
START / RUN
type in CMD and then return
type d: then return
type dir/w then return
Do you see your files ? If not you are going to need a file restore program. Or something to rebuild the NTFS/FAT table.

That has been quickformatted by something.
Out of sheer luck do you have norton utilities/systemworks on your machine ?
Or download a free file recovery program or borrow something like ontrack recovery. You can't permanently delete anything, only write over the top by running binary code up and down the sectors of your hard drive.
It should all be intact as well because you can't overwrite anything now.

Seems to look like thats happened, but I do have a back-up of that drive from about 9 months ago and I don't think I will have lost much data as I rarely used it. Oh well - just strange how it all vanished
