Image cataloging
Hi,
I've got loads of CD's full of all my piccies taken with my Digi camera. Does anyone know of any software that will allow me to take a snapshot/thumbnail view of all the images on each disc and save them to an index type picture... save me trawling through each disc to find that particular picture?
Thanks in advance
Frank

Windows XP has this feature built in to the preview facility, also if you print to a PDF maker like adabe distiller it will print to files.

Thanks, an interesting idea. Might give that a go.
Just found one called 'Express Thumnail Creator' which lets you generate thumnail size images to a HTML page... but its a 30 day trial :-(.
Cheers

If you want a proper tool to cataloguing and managing images both online (hard disk) and offline (like CDs/DVDs etc.) then take a look at iMatch.
Fairly steep learning curve, but it does everything and more.
If you just want some contact sheets, i.e. big images with lots of thumbnails, then any of the thumbnailers will do the job. PhotoShop CS (and the previous version IIRC) has a widget called "Contact Sheet" that will do this for you.
Whenever I archive images off to DVD, I run this to produce a series of contact sheets that go into the root of the DVD. This way, should my iMatch catalogue get screwed up, I'll at least be able to browse the thumbnails for the image I'm after.

Forgot to say, single user licence will set you back 50 ducks, but with our current exchange rate its a snip for the features.
