Essentially want an over-view map of the UK approx 1000 - 1500 pixels wide simillar to the one below



But clarity in depth to about 1:100,000 & that includes the necessary algorithms for accurate Lat/Lon , Northing/Easting or Grid Refs throughout the country.

IE - I feed a Lat/Lon & it shows me the correct place.


I don't need every road but down to main arterial (A roads) with towns



It can also be in segments, if that makes it easier, but no more than say 16.

Lastly, max size to about 2mb in total - its for PocketPC

(The one above does not give accurate indications of location as its a cobble jobby)

Its for a tracking thingy. Doesn't need to be down to 5 metres, so street-level isn't required, but a guide as to "area" within the country, so on a visible PDA screen is say 75 miles across with the focus area centralised. That'll be enough to read towns and major arterial routes.

I *could* integrate with TomTom but their overview maps are not great, plus I'm not wanting GPS integration (at this stage). Plus TT maps are 90mb + cost of software + SD card & somewhat overkill for my app.

However, it does need to show the focus point in the right place

These may be a bit of a long shot but have you tried . . .

They may have some downloadable stuff, or the site for "Anquet Maps" (sorry don't have the link on this PC), I know they do some maps on CD which may be okay for you.

A long shot but may turn something up.
