Question Shattering CD's

Something strange happened to me last night. Never heard of it before but I was loading XP on to a new PC and with an almighty BANG the CD shattered inside the drive!!!!???? Has enyone else experienced this? I've rang the supplier who built it and they reckon it was a faulty CD and that I'd have to pay for a new drive!? Is this right as I would have thought it was the drives fault and they'd sort it under warranty. Also a copy of XP down now too!

We had the very same thing happen a few years back with an HP External writer... an all mighty bang and the CD was blown to pieces.....

Supplier replaced the CD drive no questions under warranty...

It was an almighty bang too! Had to peel the cat off the ceiling!! I'll quote your reply when I see the computer people at the shop later. Cheers.
