Anybody recommend any broadband suppliers for around £20.00 per month as my old boy wants to get online but doesn't want to pay £30.00 per month for freeserve!

Cool

I use Tiscali here in Germany it is the cheapest at €19.99 flat rate and have had no more problems than I suspect you would get with any provider. Can't believe you still have to pay so much for this stuff in the UK

Had pipex for nearly 2 years now. 23.44 for 512k
v happy with it. Look for the deals that give you free modems and small minimum contracts.

Question

My dad has the same problem, but he's in the middle of nowhere (tiny village in Sussex) and has no cable installation in the village. Any of you have the same problem, and how do you solve it? He's not too keen on a satellite dish.

Errr...why the smiley? That's £4.49/month more than Plusnet

PlusNet is £18.95 incl vat for 512k, and is a 1 month rolling contract.

I am not with Plusnet, but Eclipse, but will maybe change at some point. I know many who use them and it is fine.

i dont think the 18.95 one supports peer to peer such as kazaa, so its not comparable.
aslo i think you have to pay 50 odd quid for activation

always look into the activation fees! they are usually about £50-£60. AFAIK pipex doesnt charge activation if you stay with them for 1 year, so probably that's your best bet.

oh... the other one will be virgin.net. £25/month and that's it. no minimum contract or activation.
