Hi peeps,

Just after a little advice after I sold my pc and need to buy a new one.

I am on a budget (the profit from the old machine (Tbird 1 Gig)

So far I am going with the following:

PC Chips M848ALU (yeah, PC Chips but couldnt see any other good boards on Ebuyer. Onboard LAN, Sound)
RETAIL XP2500+ ( are these overclockable or OEM only ?)
Antec ATI Mini tower with 500Watt PSU
512 MB Crucual 2700 RAM

Bits from old PC

ATI Rage 128 Video card
Pioneer DVD-R 104
Yamaha CDRW 16 Speed Writer

Now the problem is the HDD, can anyone recommend any quick (good) hard drives around 180/200GB that will complement the system.

Any comments on proposed system ?

I'm not a big fan of PC Chips kit.

Another £20 will get you the Asus A7N8X-X.

You can get an Excelstor 80GB for £38(+VAT). Not used them before myself but the three year warranty is better than what IBM and Maxtor give you on their entry level drives.

Samsung Spinpoint HDs are excellent. You can pick up a 160GB capacity model for about £95.

I've got 2 and they're dead quiet.
