Visioneer Strobe Pro NT Scanner - XP capable?

I'm assuming this version isn't, says it's NT4 capable but makes no mention of XP. There is an XP version - just surprised that a scanner won't work under XP if it's ok for Win 2000. Don't understand the technology but just wondered if anyone could explain (in simple terms) there is sucha difference.
