Well I have managed to kill the BIOS on mine once today already giving me a FRAG and Error Code 13.
Thankfully I have my Slayers Disc to hand to put 4977 back on.

as I understand it you need to ftp to your PC which is something I'm yet to do. I want to update my dash as well. I used the Slayer 2.5 disc to install my dashboard.

A quickie without it in front of me . . . .
EvolutionX - Take a copy of your evox.ini file to keep your settings. Overwrite the old stuff on your C drive with the new files then compare your evox.ini file with the new one to see if there are any new features. You may want to copy over the bios MD5's at this point too.
Bios - make sure your chip is flashable. Put the bios you want to use in the bios directory on the C drive of the XBox. From EvolutionX choose Settings, Flash Bios and pick the bios you want to use. You may need to edit out the hashes from the evox.ini file if you've not enabled the bios flashing already.

Did you modify the bios to boot to the F drive first then ? Otherwise it will be defaulting to C.

Nope I didn't modify the BIOS in the first instance, I was lazy!
Let Slayers do it all for me.

There is also a known issue with 4980 which came to light over the last couple of days where it will fail to boot if the dash is named msxboxdash.xbe (or xboxdash.xbe can't remember now).
Use
this to edit the bios and change the boot partition to F.
