Question

Want to be able to scan and report to a file how many NT4 machines I have on my domain. Login scripts aren't really an option as it's a hospital and the PCs are rarely turned off.

Cheers,

Rik.

3rd party product like DameWare NT utilities would list all the PC's in your domain. You can export the file and open in something like Excel to do any totalling.

Pretty sure you can download a 30-day eval from their website.

net view (\\domain)

data in brackets are optional. If omited, it will give a listing of machines on the domain the machine sits on

net view (\\domain) | names.txt
to save the output to a file.

You could use hfnetcheck

http://irt.stanford.edu/security/sys...ity/hfnet.html

This will also tell you what machines need patching.

Another method is to use Languards Network scanner to scan a range of IP Addresses.
