Problem with USB device

grrrr!
Trying to install a digital camera, and like a t1t I plugged it into the usb port and turned it on before installing the driver.
Now, after having installed driver, everytime I trun the camera on it's not recognised as such and appears as an unknown USB device [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]
I've tried uninstalling camera software, removed USB devices and even controllers but still the same.
Any ideas how I can get XP to recognise it as a camera instead of seeing unknown device all the time [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]
Oh, and I tried a system restore back to yesterday but it said system hadn't changed so failed
