Is it possible to have an exe file run as a service under Windows 2000? We have an HP Bootp program that sits on a sh1tty computer here on the network which issues IP settings to 5 HP GC's and I wanna shut it down and have already installed the sw onto a w2k pro box.For the bootp program to run I need to be logged onto the PC all the time but this isn't practical (For obvious reasons)
I'm sure I've read in days gone by that you can run an exe file as a service under w2k.Does anybody know this?
Thanks in advance
Nick

Grab srvany from the NT Reskit kit. You may need to navigate to ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/reskit/nt40/i386 directory and copy the srvany_x86.exe self extracting archive manually. Been ages since I've used it.
