I use eraser http://www.tolvanen.com/eraser/. This will remove all traces of all the dodgy things you have downloaded and then deleted!

It depends how paranoid you are. What they do it erase the file at least 7 times so that it is hard (still not impossible) to undelete the file.

So if you have been downloading anything dodgy it covers your tracks. Sometimes worth the effort as I get redirected to some sites I would rather not have seen whilst looking for X-Box stuff.

yes you can install v5 over the top of older versions, it tells you during install.
