Laptop battery problem.

Sounds like your battery is knackered mate. Wanna buy a new one?
Or it might be something a bit more serious. (I'm assuming it's still the same laptop you have.) You might have blown one or two of your power management chips. If you take the board out and look at the underside, down at the bottom right. Look for the components marked Q521, Q522, Q523, D518. They may be burnt. Or an easier way without removing the board would be to get a variable DC power supply. Set it at between 12v and 15V. This would fool the +ACpres and +DCpres chips into thinking it was running on battery power. If it doesn't boot up, then the above chips may have blown. You might be lucky though, and it's only the battery that's at fault. If you're going to the meet next Sunday, I'll bring along a battery for you to try.
