Servers?

Do they have warnings when their hard drives are about to fill up, because almost everyweek in school it comes up with disk full, so i then go see the technician and say why can't i save and they go ohh the hard drive is full you will be able to save in about 45 minutes.
Is it unreasonable of me to expect to technicians to run a network of about 150 computers with 1000 users without problems like this occuring?

Depends on the OS (NT = no, Win2k or above yes), Novell does as well,
Sounds like the server is either old with small disks or wasn't spec'd properly.
Get them to do a search for tmp files and delete them.

There are number of reasons why it has run out of disk space, backup jobs not purging old data, temp files (as suggested), huge amount of people abusing the storage area.
Ask them nicely to run a program called tree Size. It checks all the entire disk and shows where the large files (or cluster of files are)

I'd swear blind NT and 2000 will write messages to the Event Log when a partition is close to running out.
I also remember setting up Administrative Alerts to mail one of my machines in the office any alrts that the machines through out, one of them being low disk space. Been a while since I have done it/used it though so I could be wrong.
