timelimits on programs

hi,
I've had a little applet installed on my iPaq for a month now and its just expired. I've uninstalled the program and re-installed but it still knows that its expired.
I've checked the registry to see if a flag was set to expiry mode but no joy.
anyone got any ideas how this the program knows?
