Try this...
Once in Windows, Click Start > Run and type MSCONFIG.
On the screen that appears, click the Advanced button.
Is there a tick against "Enable Startup Menu"? If so, remove it, reboot and hopefully it's gone.
Chris.

If it is highlighting "Safe Mode" each time, it will be due to a bad shutdown. It will keep appearing until the machine haqs been shutdown cleanly, so let it load into Safe Mode, then shutdown/restart machine.
If it is highlighting any other option, disregard the above.

ah fig you sneaked that post in there lol
yeah as above the pc doesnt shut down most times, seems to be when its been on a while. i try leaving it, but its stays on for hours if you forget to turn it off like i did once
if its only on say 10mins it shuts down.

Tends to suggest that something is running (possibly a program you use) is not exiting cleanly. Doubt very much if it is time-related, could possibly be to do with power-save settings, but unlikely.
Try this when ready to shutdown after extended use (before selecting shutdown):
Close all open programs, chat, email etc,
CTRL-ALT-DEL to to bring up the list of active applications etc.
END JOB on each one with the exception of EXPLORER and SYSTRAY. If you get a message saying "xxx is not responding" then click the button to force it to go away.
Once you have just the two items left, try shutting down. If it now powers off, one of the items your closed is the culprit, and most likely candidate(s) will be any that gave the 'not responding' message.
You might also want to check in power settings in the control panel that you have ACPI support enabled (it probably is). Without this PC will not/is unlikely to power off itself.
