Non Scooby Forum ?, DIY, or Computer ??
Hopefully this forum is as good as any !!
Q - If I need 12 volts for a device, can I connect 8 x 1.5 volt AA size batteries back to back ?
I don't need to power the device for very long at all.
Just testing at this stage.
Ta.

Yes. connect them in seies i.e. + to -, - to +, + to - and so on, and you will end up with 12 volts over the 1st + and last - terminals. However, depends what you are testing, the current output may not be up to the job of running the item.
If you have a car battery charger you could possibly run an item off the output for testing if say the battery charger is a 4 amp one and you are testing a head unit.
Hope this helps

The device needs 12 volts (11v -> 13.8v),
and consummes 100mA to 300mA.
I guess back to back is ok then.
I presume the power consumption is tiny ??
I'm not an electonics guru !!
