Started happening about a week ago. Try to play any music CD (proper bought stuff, none of this downloaded malarky) in windows Media Player and they sound as if the Chipmunks are doing the singing (like playing an LP (remember them?) at 45RPM.

Are there any settings etc which could have been changed, or is the CD Player FUBAR? Something else maybe?

In Media Player select View from the top menu and then Enhancements. Then make sure that Enhancements is ticked. You should get an extra menu towards the bottom left corner of Media Player (if it wasn't already there before). Click on the > arrow until you get to Play Speed Settings. My guess is that this setting is set to a play speed of more than 1.0 (hence the 'chipmunk' sounding music).

You'll only be able to change this setting once a music file is playing.

Hope this helps

Marc
