Charity Worker Needs: Best Computer for <£500?
#1
A little cousin of mine is in need of a new computer due to her current one giving up the ghost. As I'm a Mac head, I'm of no use to her recommending a good computer and so I was hoping you guys could help!
She does a lot of charity work : http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0...ll&siteid=5006 and has basically worn her current computer out with the amount of letters she sends out to prospective sponsors.
She can't afford much and so £500 is probably her limit.
So, what's the best value pc currently available for £500 or less? A monitor will need to be incorporated into the £500.
Sadly she can't wait for one to be built for her and so it needs to be available asap.
Any advice would be gratefully received!
Andy.

I got http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...ME:B:EOAB:UK:6 off E-bay as a replacement for my work computer which was an old Pentium II 350. Excellent machine, arrived within one working day. Got a 17" monitor separately, total was under £300 plus delivery.

Thanks for the advice guys!
And thanks very much for the offer of the parts - it's very kind of you!
Sadly not only does she not have the time to have one built, but I wouldn't have the foggiest of how to do it either...
I was looking more for an off the shelf computer that will be available straight away.
Any other recommendations?
