In the last week my mouse has gone crazy!

If I scroll from left to right (or any direction) with the mouse, the cursor will stop half way (or at a certain point) and then jump to the end. Its becoming hard to use. I move the mouse and the cursor will stay where it is, then a second later will jump to the point where the mouse finished.

It also goes really weird and every once in a while it goes crazy, opening folders, the start menu, etc. I was playing battefield online and my player went crazy, it started to spin around, fire the weapon, move forwards, backwards. When this happens I stop moving the mouse, but yet it still goes crazy.

Any ideas? I've run my virus checker and it didnt find anything. Is it spyware?

Sometimes when I boot my pc up, the mouse doesnt work and a simply restart fixes it.

If it has a ball, try taking it out and cleaning the fluff off. You can also clean the little rollers inside (isopropyl alcohol on a Q-Tip)

If its cordless, replace the batteries

I had a simliar thing happen with a Logitech mouse. Updated the drivers and it seemed to fix it. Ditched it for an optical one in the end and never looked back.
