assuming they are not copyrighted films
you will need divx codecs for your machine, do a search for divx to find them!

k-lite codec pack plays virtually all A/V formats, but as said if its copywrite material then its illegal, otherwise its fine

I always run ad-aware and spybot after installing any software anyway and have norton av running at all times with daily schedulled virus checks
