Following my problems with PM8 it seems my CD R/W burner a Lite-on model is knackered. It fails laser calibration in NERO. does anyone know of any software that will test drives or better yet where the hell I can get some drivers/firmware for this as Lite-On seem to have stopped supporting my drive on their website
It is a LTR 32123S and is less than a yr old.

Hi Nacro
Try here for firmware and driver downloads
Hope this is of help.
Out of interest is the drive located in the top bay of a tower system? If it is it could be failing or have failed due to overheating if there is insufficient cooling. I was finally advised to relocate my CDRW drive into a lower drive bay to allow some airflow around it after having 2 fail. I also have added a few extra cooling fans and blow holes to help the situation.

Guys thanks for all the help-
I think that the overheating is the problem- the drive is sandwiched between two Ultra SCSI disks with no cooling!
I have to run the PC with the case off as it is undercooled and overclocked. I suspected heat was the cause but nice to have it confirmed. Next time I'll buy a good un should the firmware/driver route fail.
