New to this game and currently experiencing some problems.

A friend showed me how to download files for mp3s etc and I think I may be in too deep too soon.

Have downloaded Norton, Realplayer, KaZa, Freesurfer, Nero, cdex.

Have start up problems .DLL file missing DMIAP132.DLL and my touchpad click has gone. Any ideas or should I clean out and start again from scratch?

On ntl broadband which seems to be fine.

 

depending how long you been using the PC from a last install, a clean install once in a while is always a good idea. and with broadband, you dunno what's inside your PC!

a couple of things you definitely need with broadband is a firewall. have a look at zone alarm. you can test if your PC is hackable. visit pcflank and grc.

and lastly, you will need anti-trojan/spyware software. have a look at pest patrol and ad-aware.

Had the laptop only a few weeks. Should I do a complete re-install then look at the software you mention?

Don't have much saved on it anyway.

 

i suppose a fresh install will cure the .dll error. since it's a laptop, make sure you got all the proper drivers from the manufacturer.
