I've just installed a new motherboard in my computer and it won't start at all. The only sign of life is the power light on the motherboard when I press the on button at the front of the case. The psu fan does not start, the cpu fan does not start or the hard drive.

I tried my old graphics card and the sytem was just as dead with that.

Also I have tried two different psus, a new one and my old one.

Oh, and I also tried an old processor and that didn't work either.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-7VT600 with a Xp1800+ and 512MB of PC3200 RAM.

Can anybody help, I've run out of ideas.

Ian,

It doesn't appear to have one.

The manual tells you to remove the CMOS battery for 30 seconds to erase cmos.

Any more ideas? I'm completly stummped.

Back to basics...
take out all cards ...disconnect all ide cables
try and boot
if not ...remove ram

try boot

if no boot check fan connector is in correct position.
some m/boards have 2.

is proc compatible.

Thanks for the help so far

I tried running the board outside the case and the psu, processor and graphics card fans all started.

It is back in the case again with just the graphics card and the drives connected.

When I switch on the sceen stays blank and there are four beeps before the system switches off, high, low, high low.

I think I'll just take the board and ram back and exchange them.

Is the GFX card seated correctly ? Make sure its tight in the slot, sounds like its popped out a bit.
