I have now set up VPN on our server and can connect to it internally with no problem. But when I try a remote access conection it fails, I guess this is now down to the firewall, i've open port 1723 is there anything else I need to do?

when you say you have opened the port do you mean you have redirected it?

If the VPN server is behind the firewall i assume that is running on a private ip? you therefore have to redirect the traffic from the firewall's IP to the internal IP of the server.

Yes have given the VPN server a static ip address and forwarded the port 1723 to that IP address.
D0nt know if this helps but when I connect internaly, although it connects fine i get the following event logged on the VPN server.

The user ***** connected from **.**.**.** but failed an authentication attempt due to the following reason: There was an authentication failure because of an unknown user name or a bad password.

Username: DOMAIN\username

Appeared to log on but gor this in event viewer on server:
The user domain/administrator connected from **.**.**.** but failed an authentication attempt due to the following reason: The specified user does not exist.

My main concern is connecting remotely
