I know bugger all about VPN's (other than what VPN stands for!)

Are there loads of different versions of VPN out there? I've got a problem at a site using a VPN, and I just need to find out if it is valid to ask "Which VPN software are you using?"

Does the firewall software come as part of the VPN stuff, or would that normally be separate?

Thanks.

Normally VPN is built into a Firewall.

Can you give more details as to the problem and I'll try and help.

As Jeff says it could be a VPN using a hardware device.

Alternatively, a brave person might be using Windows 2000 or another software product to do the job. <gulp>
