In XP, in order to choose which programs you want to load during startup, you go to the Run option and type 'msconfig'

In Millenium you go to system information and choose

In Win2000 how the **** do you do that????

Find the "Run" key in the Registry via RegEdit

HKey Local Machine
Microsoft
Windows
CurrentVersion
Run

Edit with care though - you can easily cripple Windows via Regedit

Not to my knowledge - it's registry or a 3rd party tool like Steve suggests.

msconfig would do what you want but for some strange reason they removed it from Windows 2000

I was trying to download Steven's program, but for some reason it was corrupting and wouldn't load. However, I did find a very good program while surfing around called 'Startup CPL'. Download from here

Tiny program (only 61K) - about a 10th of the size of the one originally listed. The program will setup a new icon in the Control Panel called 'Startup' - this utilitiy will list all the programs that attempt to load and allow you to amend what they do. My kind of program - short, well written, very effective and free

Yeah it is isn't it? I was well impressed.

You do find an awful lot of cr*p on the web, but every now and again, you turn up a great little program that does exactly what you want.
