Trying to buy myself a Casio QV-R4 this week - anyone got any good websites to visit for cheap digi cams, and great service?
Amazon is cheapest so far.

If you don't mind importing from the EU, try www.ny-camera.de - great service and often significantly cheaper than the UK.

Mate of mine bought one for the wedding, and for the money it was amazing - all the features I need and more. Rumours are they are made by Pentax, and similar to the Pentax Optio.
Other option is the Canon IXUS 400, but costs a bit more.

Jessops will price match to UK website prices - but still a good offer and I know of several people who have done this - at least you have a bit of comeback if things go wrong.

Jessops are spot on with advice, pre sales service, price matching and after sales support. I cannot recommend them enough!
You absolutely must use a camera before you buy it. You might find that you hate the ergonomics... I spent a couple of hours trying a few cameras before producing the magazine from my pocket with the words to strike fear into the heart of the sales people - "I hear you pricematch websites..."
Cheers,
Nick.

Check Internet prices using www.pricerunner.co.uk. It lists the companies selling the specific Camera you are after, together with prices.

Tottenham Court Road.
Play each shop off against each other for a few hours. Then go down to Jessops on New Oxford Street and get them to price match.
Watch out for Amazon, Etc, especially if the camera is your pride and joy, as you might be without it for quite a while if it fails. Amazon (et al) source their cameras from all over the World, and the camera in question may not be welcome at a UK repair centre (this is certainly true for Nikon!).

I've had "interesting" experiences with empire. If it were a choice of empire or Dixons, I'd go for Dixons... More knowledgeable staff, less BS... And that's saying something
But perhaps I was just unlucky.

Never understood price matching. If they can afford to sell it at the "matched" price, why don't they price it at that price all the time?
Preferable, IMHO, to go for a company that's selling at a decent price in the first place, not trying to fleece the unsuspecting punter with a high initial price.
My digicam (Minolta Dimage 7i) came from www.internetcamerasdirect.co.uk. Can't fault their service, and you get 60 free prints from Photobox when you buy.

Empire <Shudders>
I had a nightmare with them, and wouldnt buy a top of the range camera from them if it was £1.99, bunch of cowboys.
Basically bought a TV/Video for £900 and it took 3 months to arrive, leaving me with a 14" TV over Xmas.
Didnt get a single phone call, apology or anything - didnt even get my £20 or whatever it was back for delivery.
Fo other peoples opinions on Empire check the reviews on Pricerunner.com - slated!!!
