I run XP and a home network connecting my desktop to my laptop via WiFi. In installed a Lexmark printer on the desktop which worked ok shared but everytime I restart the desktop, or remote desktop to it from my laptop it runs the printer set-up (read the licence, align heads etc). No matter how many times I complete this setup it returns on a restart or remote desktop. I have removed the printers and it still happens. How can I stop it, it's driving me mad.

Check in the startup folder to see if you see a shortcut to the printer setup program. If there, delete it.
If not there, run MSConfig, go to the startup tab and look for a similar entry.
