Question

Wanting to get a 4 port router that will act as my ADSL modem and is wireless so that i can share my ADSL line between 4 machines over a distance of not more than say 60m. This will enable a LAN inside our corridor at home (long corridor though!)

Anyone recommend a good router + 4 cards for it and any hitches we might get?

Dlink is excellent. Netgear, Belkin, Linksys all do good value products too.

For your requirement I wouldn't recommend an all-in-one wireless router because they are limited on wireless functions. If you want to achieve 60m then the wireless router might be on the border line to providing adequate coverage even if radius coverage is 30m.

I suggest you consider an ADSL router with an Access Point. Setup worth considering is the D-Link DSL-504 and a D-Link DWL-900AP+ Access Point. The D-Link AP is very powerful (18dBm) but the key is that the DWL-900aP supports wireless repeating. Wireless repeating allows you to easily extend your wireless network in a certain direction. A

If you need any more info then let me know and I can go through in more details

D-Link ADSL Airplus Wireless Modem/ Router with supporting PCI/PCIMIA laptop cards.
Excellent pieces of kit and I have them installed for my home network.
Good range indoors and out.

actually, is it better to get a [adsl modem with router] + [wireless access point] or [adsl modem] + [wireless access point with router] or it doesn't really matter?
