bought one of these about 9 months ago and was told it was a 333MHz mobo. at the time i also bought an xp1800 processor and 1gig of pc2100 ram. with cpu prices tumbling, this week i bought a xp 2500 barton with a 333FSB and 1 gig of PC2700 ram. the ram works spot on but i am getting an unrecognised cpu on the board. tried a few things including setting cpu parameters manually with softmenu3. i have the latest version of the bios software(22/8/02) but the board refuses to recognise the new chip. i am currently running the chip as an unrecognised 1400mhz chip. if i remember rightly the xp1800 runs at 1.53 Ghz so at the mo i am actually worse off speed wise.
Anyone any ideas or am i gonna have to fork out for one of the new nforce boards that abit do. i have used abit boards for a while now but if someone could recommend another make that would do my job as well as being future proof(well as future proof as it can be) i would appeciate it.
cheers

if i read abit's site right it only supports 200 and 266mhz processors, have you tried manually setting multiplier and fsb in bios to say 13.5 and a 133 fsb which is close to what xp2500 (1.83) runs at.

Good advice on running the chip on the lesser settings, bummer if the board won't support 333fsb; if that's the case running the board at lesser FSB is the only option.
I've said before and will say it again , although I've heard very
good things about Abit boards (have no experience, tho), I'd always recommend Asus boards.
I'm running an Asus A78VX board with a XP1700+ Thoro B chip at 2.08ghz....
The Nforce range of Asus boards will be the basis for my next build, no doubt.
Just a thought - but have you cleared the CMOS? If not flick the jumper and then try the new chip. Had a similar problem with a XP1600 chip upgrade on a PCHipps board - system wouldn't get to POST. After Resetting the CMOS the board booted up no worries recognising the upgraded CPU...

you might also want to check that your running the latest bios revision on the board..
