pc says m.s. downloads are not logo tested

..not a problem in itself but it prevents me installing xp updates,btw the cryptographic services are 'started' when i checked,any ideas why my pc thinks the updates are not logo tested please or how to bypass the system so ms updates will install,many thanks...

Only two reasons I've heard of where this message appears:
1) Illegal/pirated/blocked CD Key
2) Downloading from spoof Microsoft site (was a virus/trojan doing the rounds emailing you to download a "fix" from a site with Microsoft in the URL (microsoft-download.com or something like))
if neither of these apply, then sorry, no idea.

I don't think thats it Figment, i've just tried to install ms xp updates from the proper site " www.v4 windowsupdate.microsoft.com"
but pc said it cannot confirm the integrity of these updates and didn't install them.....????

I clicked install nayway but the install failed...thanks for the pointers guys, i've checked the 'progs/files' that the crypto svc depends on and they are in order as best i can see....???
