Ok I have had my epson C60 for about a year now and always used clone carts. When I swapped the colour one recently (I used a different brand) it told me to use only genuine cartridges. So I thought that the cartridge was duff and replaced the previous ink cartrdige which still had some ink left. Now the C60 doesnt like that one!!! It says the same message! has anyone seen this before!!!

Cheers

Some inkjet printers manufacturers now put microchips into their ink cartridges.

This way they can:

a) Detect 3rd party cartridges and refuse to work
b) Using laws in the US such as the DMCA, sue people who attempt to copy their chip and make 3rd party cartridges.

It's well known that HP make huge piles of cash from selling ink and toner - more than from selling the printers themselves!

Does the printer refuse to work at all?

The C60 carts have chips on them. The printer now refuses any acrtridge I insert. Its as if the bogus cart triggered an alarm and now it refuses to reset regardless of which cart I re-insert. The only option is to go for a GENUINE  cart and hope it is ok.

Thumbs down

They do put chips in
Did ane1 read that report from which last week that said most cartridges are "programmed" to be empty b4 they really are.
The worst still had 38% ink left, the best still had 17% left.
