I was looking at chipping my Xbox a while back, seems the URL's I had are now offline.
I'm wanting to get mine done now, can anyone point me to a site that sells the chips. Anyone in Kent that could help me out would be good also , I'm looking at changing the HDD also.
Thanks
John

Did this a couple of months ago with the help on someone else on this board.
Bought my Martix chip from here. Took a while to get here as they were out of stock .
There are quite a few chips you can choose from. Lot's how info and advice on X-Box Scene. Don't know where else you can get chips from, but you can probably find somewhere on that site. You will need a BIOS as well. They are a bit more difficult to get hold of.
Cheers

Best one currently is the X-ecuter 2.1 Pro. Mind you, they bring out another one every few days
You can play online if you switch off the chip. Or else you can use XBConnect to play online with chip switched on.

Thanks for that rdrapper
That's a good site with a good active forum aswell
Gonna go for the Xecuter 2 Lite Plus then for £35 inc delivery
Just need to find me a bigger HDD now then, might just go with a 40Gb one to start with (got a spare one sitting here now)

What is the difference between the Lite and the Pro?
Dunk I blame you for showing my your X-Box with all the extra bits on it like Media player
Ok just bothered reading a few sites and have found the difference! Any benefits gained from using the Pro as opposed to the Lite apart from the fact that it is easier to change BIOS?

Ian,
There is a full list of differences here.
Once the chip is in, you can just flash the bios through EvolutionX. I do mine every time a new one comes out.
The X-ecutor has the benefit of having the ability to store multi-bios.

I ordered mine yesterday from that baldybouncer site
I went for the lite as I read the bit that said, if you want to know the difference between the lite and the pro, you need the lite
I will manage to fit it myself I reckon ok, but when it comes to doing all the jiggery-pokery to load BIOS and stuff I may need help The forum on the site does look helpful though.

I got mine from playstationchips.co.uk , easy to install if you have good sight or a manifying light.
Can anyone tell me a good compatible (with the differant models of x-box) DVD-R to use when making a "backup" ,getting sick of mates saying games dont work on theirs when they do on mine!

Highly recommended are the DVD-R's with the purple Ritek dye. Get them from http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/. Never had one not work on mine.

**** I've ordered the wrong one
I wanted the solder job, I got the nancy one with the pogo pins.
Anyone wanna buy this off me so I can get the solder one?
All that I got was what's in the picture. I think it just screws down on the earthing point and you've gotta line the pins up on the PCB over the correct joints.
I wonder if this one's pre-bios'd then?

No you cant play Xbox Live with a chip installed and switched on. You can if you boot the default MS dashboard with the chip switched off tho. But if you forget and leave it on, your MAC address will be banned. Also if you have replaced the HDD then you need to lock it as well as switch the modchip off to use Xbox Live.
Buy you could use Xbconnect instead.
I have always got my stiff from BaldBouncer and had no probs, he is well helpful if you cant find answers on his WorldXbox forums. Either that or ask DJ Dunk
