We have about 100 external users that have pop3 address via a dedicated ISP. Every so often a large E-mail (2.5MB+) gets sent to them and they want it deleted, but they obviously can’t do it without downloading it first which could take hours as most are out of BB areas so are on a modem.

We can successfully remove the E-mails from the mailboxes using a Windows 98 machine with a program called POP3 scan Mailbox, but I can't find a good program that runs with Windows 2000. I have used all kinds of programs and they are all crap, hanging all the time, only allowing E-mails under 1MB to be scanned, does not show the sender or subject etc.
What I have been doing at the moment is setting up Outlook Express and then download everything from a users mailbox and then deleting the large file, which is not ideal.

Any ideas where I can get a pop3 mail scanner for Windows 2000?

Cheers
Darren

Am I missing something here? Set up an Outlook Express rule to delete messages from the server if over a certain size?

JMail 4.3 fantastic bit of software, you can remotely interogate a POP3 box, identify the offending articles and delete them.

I developed something like you mention in a VB transactional app for one of our clients. With a small amount of tweaking it will do as you ask - all you would nee to do is set up a scheduled task to run the VB.

Figment - If only live where that easy. We would have to change over 100 mailboxes on PC's and laptops all over the UK Nice idea though
