Installation of Windows
#1
What could it be?
When instaling windows on Compaq machine, booting the computer with the windows CD in the drive and when I get to the screen it's giving me the option for entre = continue instalation, R = repair, F3 = exit instalation, the keyboard stops responding and the only way to turn of the computer is manualy.
Any ideas?

Guessing here, has it already got a version of windows installed - hence the repair option (not sure what version of windows you are trying to install). If this is the case and you have all the drivers boot from a floppy and format the hard drive partition, and try again
If not try swapping the memeory stick for a known good one and try again.

I had something similar on my new Asus A7V8X based upgrade. The neww DDR memory was at fault...changing the TwinMOS 512mb PC2700 to an old stick of 256 PC2100 has temporarily cured the fault.

Yes, have had the same twinmos memory problem too. Try another memory stick, or if you have more than one remove them all and try one at a time to see which works and which doesn't.
