I have just upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP Prof and I have tried everything I know ( ltd knowledge ) to re-install Norton Internet security 2003.
I have gone to add/remove and deleted all the files loads of times, Iv'e even tried removing the software from the NIS 2003 task bar, but when I try to reload it an error message keeps coming up saying Windows has detected some files from NIS 2003 and it won't let me go any further until I remove them WHICH I CAN'T.

Please help it's pi**ing me off now.

Agree with DJ Dunk - you can't delete files that are being used. Boot into safe mode (tap F5 during POST check) then try Add/Remove.

Start > Run > "MSCONFIG" > OK

Go to startup tab and remove ticks from anything to do with NIS
then apply. Once machine has rebooted, cancel the prompt to run msconfig (or you'll go around in circles) and try deleting NIS again.

Don't forget to return to MSConfig when you have finished, and select normal Startup on the first page.
