Question

After several months of ear bashing from the missus, i am going to have to clear up the mass of cables trawling through the house. Can anyone recomend a good Wireless ADSL modem/router and Wireless bridge that will work with Xbox?

Hi Rab

I suggest you consider the following setups

D-Link DSL-604+ 22Mbps Wireless ADSL Router with D-Link DWL-810+ 22Mbps Wireless Ethernet Bridge - Works with PS2 online and XBOX Live.

Netgear DG824M 11Mbps Wireless ADSL Router with Netgear ME101 11Mbps Wireless Ethernet Bridge - Works with XBOX Live but currently the DG824M has issues with PS2 online. No doubt the issues will be resolved in a firmware fix for the DG824M.

For my experience I would strongly avoid the Linksys WET11 11Mbps Wireless Ethernet Bridge. Over recent months we have had loads back due to compatbility issues with xbox live/ps2 online

I have used a WET11 with my Xbox for the past 6 months without any problems.

Problems have occurred since Linksys in their wisdom have tweaked the firmware Actually the shipping firmware now has less functionality than when it first shipped so what ever you do don't upgrade

Will both of these modems have any issues with Virgin.net? and where are the cheapest deals at the moment

DSL-604+ has issues with virgin.net therefore the netgear might be the best bet

That works fine for me - You have to run through a wireless specific Xboxconnect setup (when I did it, it was designed around the WET11, which I have - though probably works with the other stuff). This is a one-time only setup option, so you might have to completely de-install and re-install Xboxconnect to get to the wireless stuff again.

Pretty easy, and now it's setup properly it works well. No more wires running down the stairs. Even got the Tivo running off the same 8-port switch and WET11 wireless connection.

Enjoy....

MrShades

So how do you connect to your broadband modem ? With the WET11 or with a wireless router ?

I have the broadband router upstairs and Xbox downstairs.
