Picked it up this weekend for the nipper and have only had a couple of goes at it. Seems average to me but maybe that's because I haven't been able to get at the PS2 much. The little fella (who is 9) hated it at first because there weren't many unlocked cars but now he's got into how to win them, he's addicted. It's fast, and the handling and response of the controls is very good, so is the nitro boost

I tried a friends copy of this at the weekend. Must admit I was somewhat disappointed and thought it was a bit on the average side. Switched it off after about 30 minutes and loaded Burnout 2 instead which we then played for about 4 hours!
If you've not yet got a copy of Burnout 2, I can highly recommend that one Lots of playability and very glossy game. Not exactly GT3 in the realism stakes but loads of fun and excellent feeling of speed.

Just replying again to add that I've still got the game, loaded it again before I had to give it back and decided that the one player game is a much better proposition. I've had a good few hours now unlocking a few of the extra cars and tracks. Damn hard in places, though.
