Windows XP Security
#1
I'm more used to NT/2000 security, but now my new PC has arrived i've decided to ditch NT/2000 and run soley with XP Pro.
I have a number of partitions I want to protect from access by other users(such as my recovery partition). Now, I used to use 2000's file security tabs to do it but in XP Pro I don't seem be able to find how to do it.
Any ideas?

You still get the same Security tabs, but only when you've joined an existing NT domain or AD.
If you're running XP Pro in a workgroup (or standalone), then no tabs. I'm still trying to work this one out myself

Neil,
You need to disable 'Simple File Sharing' to get access to the full Access Control List (i.e. the security tab). Simple File Sharing is enabled by default unless you join a domain. It's the only choice for XP Home.

Neil,
Go to My Computer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> View.
Scroll to the bottom of the list of advanced settings and un-check Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended). Click OK.
